Choosing yours

This was the third piece of work that I have made up for the Raceform Updates series on hurdling. This article related to identifying horses early on, who could be a good choice to follow through the season, I thought about different options for this image such as timelines, aging, young and older horses etc. In the end I felt that going with something simple as above, was best for conveying the general message of identifying your horse to follow.

Hurdling

This was the second illustration for this series, which went to print today. This story was about what makes a good hurdler, and how some horses that are still talented and may go on to be very successfull still dont perform well at the hurdles. The horse depicted was Big Bucks, and I chose to go down an anatomical route for this concept.
The image was drawn out in a sketch, and then coloured and finished in Photoshop.

Basic Principles

This was the first of five images I have been asked to produce for the Raceform Update, this is a weekly publication that runs as part of the Racing Post group. This first image was related to the basic principles of horses running hurdles. And how some flat horses don't always perform well when moving on to run hurdles.
